1. Are you open year around?

Sadly, We Are Nuts is a seasonal business. We open each year near the beginning of October and close shortly after the New Year in January.

During those months our store hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM & Saturday, 8AM to 2PM (we are closed on Sundays). During these months, you can shop online anytime by visiting us at www.wearenutsMN.com.

2. What are your best sellers?

Hands down, our top seller is Extra Large Whole Cashews. We take pride in each and every one of our products, but when it comes to Cashews, We Are Nuts demands the utmost perfection. High in quality & large in size, we guarantee our Cashews will deliver satisfaction!

Fancy Deluxe Mixed Nuts are always in high demand. Second in sales only to the Extra Large Whole Cashews, our Mixed Nut blend is not padded with peanuts or smaller scale nuts. Instead, we include all the ‘Fancy’ nuts we can find, each of the same high quality we offer in the individual 1 lbs bags. You can’t go wrong with these - especially when hosting around the holidays.

A true fan favorite for all customers, young and old, is our Cocky Pop. Popcorn, Cashews, Almonds, and Pecans drizzled in a delicious caramel/toffee coating, this is a guaranteed appetite wrecker.

Not too long ago, We Are Nuts began selling Milk Chocolate Covered Almonds. Quickly becoming a cult classic, they are the only nut to receive a “Tinning” (offered standard in a tin) other then the original two tin options – Cashews and Mixed Nuts. Simply stated, they are incredible!

3. What is a Nut Buck?

A Nut Buck is exactly what it sounds like – a FREE buck you can put toward your any of your in store purchases totaling $20.00 or more…

Follow this link - Nut Buck - & print the coupon from home. When checking out, present your Nut Buck to the clerk and voila, one dollar will be subtracted from your purchase total.

4. Are We Are Nuts’ nuts gluten free?

The quick answer… No. We do not classify or label any of our nuts as being gluten-free because they are packaged in a facility where they may come into contact with wheat or other gluten containing items.

According to the FDA’s website, nuts in their natural and pure form are gluten free. This includes all tree nuts (almonds, Brazils, cashews, chestnuts, filberts/hazelnuts, macadamias, coconut, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, & walnuts), peanuts, sunflower and sesame seeds, as well as all natural dried fruits.

Because our nuts are packaged in a facility where they may come into contact with wheat or other gluten rich items. So for the safety of all of our customers and friends, we do not label any of our products as being gluten free.

What does this mean? The majority of our products do not contain gluten in their natural state, but may have come into contact, by direct or indirect means, with gluten containing items. Not labeling these products as gluten-free is therefore a precautionary measure taken for the health & safety of our customers.

We may be nuts about our nuts, but we’re even more nuts when it comes to protecting the health of our customers! For more information on Celiac Disease and the guideline for the labeling of Gluten-Free, follow the links below…

5. Shipping to Multiple Addresses

When checking out online, our site does NOT allow for the shipment a single purchase to multiple addresses.

But please don’t panic, we won’t make you choose which of your kids away at college is more deserving. Below are two solutions we hope will easily allow you to circumvent this issue. It’s our goal to make sure everyone on your list gets to go nuts! 1) Complete separate checkouts on our website for each address you wish to ship to. 2) Call us during our store hours - (651) 646-3688 – to check out over the phone and we will assist in coordinating the shipment of your order to the different locations.

6. Where do you get your nuts from?

The cashew tree is native to northeastern Brazil. In the mid-to-late 1500s, Portuguese traders and explorers introduced the cashew tree to India and to the east coast of Africa in an area that is now Mozambique. When We Are Nuts began its operation in 1988, we purchased our Cashews primarily from India and Africa. Now, twenty-six years later, Viet Nam has become a major world player in the Cashew market. Their quality has been exceptional for the past two years and has become the main source for We Are Nuts. We buy the very best Pecans direct form several growers in Georgia and also Walnuts and Almonds direct from growers in California.

7. How do you roast your nuts?

I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you (just kidding!!!). You must first recognize that roasting nuts is an art. I learned the trade from a gentlemen, since retired, who was a roaster at the Fisher Nut plant in St. Paul. He was very fussy and wouldn’t even let me touch the stirring paddle for three years. Now, being the old pro that I am, I’m passing the technique to my sons (none of who, have yet to touch the paddle).

8. Can I customize my larger volume orders?

Yes, we will always work to accommodate the needs of you, our valued customers, in any way we see possible. In our 20+ years of business, we’ve made it our goal to never turn away a request, no matter how nutty they may be. At We Are Nuts, we pride ourselves on our customer service. So please call us – (651) 646-3688 – or send us a message via our website and we will determine a way to meet your needs.

9. Are nuts considered a healthy snack?

Absolutely! Incorporating raw or natural nuts into a well balanced diet is a great way to snack healthy without having to sacrifice taste. Nuts are high in protein, so a handful mid morning or mid afternoon can provide the energy needed to get through the day.

Nuts are a conundrum in that they are one of a small handful of healthy, high fatty foods. This is because the majority of the fat found in nuts is unsaturated (polyunsaturated or monounsaturated), which evidence suggests, can help lower bad cholesterol.

According to the Mayo Clinic all nuts, to a varying degree, also contain these other heart healthy substances; Omega-3 fatty acids, which assist in the prevention of unnatural heart rhythms, Fiber which also helps lower cholesterol, Vitamin E which helps stop the build up of plaque in arteries thus preventing the narrowing of arterial walls, L-arginine an amino acid that improves the health of arterial walls by making them more flexible and thus, less likely to develop clots.

It’s important to recognize that the benefits of nuts are reliant upon moderation and a commitment to a heart healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, the addition of salt, sugar, or chocolate ultimately cancels these heart healthy benefits. But not to worry as we offer a wide selection of unsalted or natural nuts options.

Just remember in this season of giving, celebration, family & friends, your big heart may be in for a work out, so keep it healthy!

10. How are shipping charges calculated?

The majority of our shipping is done through Fed Ex, with some orders sent via the United States Postal Service (USPS). The choice of which is based on a composite of the lowest price available and the delivery date requested by the purchaser (if a specific date is not requested, all shipments will be sent out via standard delivery, the day following business day unless otherwise notified).

We are also happy to assist with the shipping of items purchased in store. Please consult with any of our staff prior to checking out and shipping costs can be included into your counter purchase.

11. How do I determine if my Address Type is a Residence or Business?

When entering your shipping address online, you will be asked to determine whether the address provided is a home/residence or a business. If you are not sure please review the following to ensure a speedy and accurate delivery (explanation can also be viewed during checkout by clicking on the ‘hint bubble’ located next to the ‘Address Type’ field).

Residence

Standard Weekday Delivery service delivers by 8pm for residential addresses. Morning Delivery service (additional fee) will deliver by noon. Saturday Delivery (additional fee) service will deliver by 1:30pm. We recommend that you provide an address at which someone will be present to receive the package. If no one is present, the package will be left at the door.

Note that Morning Delivery service and Saturday Delivery service may not be available for some rural locations. Delivery to Alaska and Hawaii is available at an additional cost (delivery cost calculated once address is submitted).

Business

Standard Weekday Delivery service delivers by 5pm to business locations. Morning Delivery service (additional fee) will deliver by noon. If you select Saturday Delivery service for a business, keep in mind that some business locations may be locked on weekends.

We recommend that you provide an address at which someone will be present to receive the package during normal business hours. Many businesses have a reception area or central mail repository, which will then process the delivery. If the business is closed at the time of delivery, the package will be left at the door.

12. Are nuts taxable?

Nuts without a candied, sugared or chocolate coating are not taxable. This applies to both the product we sell in a bags and/or gift tins. Therefore, with the exception of those products under the ‘Chocolate Covered Nuts’ & ‘Candied Nuts’ subcategories and, additionally, the Decorative Gift Tins filled with Chocolate Covered Almonds, all of our products are not taxable.

13. Why can’t I find everything that’s sold in the store on the website?

Throughout our short three-month season, we do our best to constantly change and renew the many non-nut goodies in our store. The ever-changing nature of the inventory would make it impossible to manage the online sales of such product. So make a point to visit us, you never know what nutty deal we may have flying off the shelves!

14. What payment methods can I use online?

Our online store accepts the four major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express. If you come in to our retail store, you can pay with credit card (same options) or cash. No checks please.
